Who Can Apply for Pharmacy Training through Oriel?

Advice & Insight From Pre-Registration Recruitment Exam Specialists

In order to apply for Foundation Training in Pharmacy, you will need to be eligible. This should (hopefully) be relatively obvious to you, but for overseas applicants – or those who have graduated less recently, perhaps – this might be a little more difficult to ascertain.

UK Graduates applying for Oriel Pharmacy

If you are a UK graduate, you will need to consider the year in which you graduated. You will be able to apply to all programs, but you must have completed your degree within the previous 8 years (for MPharm) or the previous 4 years (for OSPAP) (relative to the application date) in order to apply. You will also need to provide any professional registration that you may hold with a statutory organisation. A statutory organisation is any regulatory body that covers medical and healthcare professionals e.g. the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). This covers all current third year UK MPharm undergraduates.

This is the simplest path – you will need to specify your expected time of graduation and school, which will allow Oriel to then check your details.

International Applicants applying for Oriel Pharmacy

In contrast, the most difficult path is that of an international applicant. You will need both to demonstrate all of your right to work in the UK, your Pharmacy qualification, and your English ability if it is not your native language. Regarding right to work in the UK – you must first indicate your nationality and then answer the relevant questions around your right to work in the UK. You will then be asked to provide details of your current immigration status. You will need to consult the UK Visas & Immigration website for info regarding right to work in the UK. You must be aware that not all programs on Oriel will be available to international applicants who require a Skilled Worker Visa (SWV). However, you will be able to recognise the programs that do – and don’t – support applicants who will require an SWV from the Oriel program pages.

Regarding English Language requirements – you will need to provide details of your International English Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET) score, if your primary qualification was not in English. You will need to offer at least the following scores:
– Overall 7.0, Speaking 7.0, Listening 7.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0, for IELTS
– Speaking – B, Listening – B, Reading – B, Writing – B, for OET
