Advice & Insight From Nursing Interview Specialists

General Information

Admission to SUNY for Nursing is competitive, although exact numbers are not publicly available. You should be prepared to field as strong an application as possible. Prerequisite courses do not need to be completed at the time of application, but must be completed before the start of classes. You should list all classes you are taking or plan to take prior to entry when applying. You will need two letters of recommendation – these will come from either nursing professionals if you are looking to study the BS from RN qualification, or professors and ANPs if you are looking to study the MS in Nursing.

Interview Format for Nursing at SUNY

You should expect a traditional style interview. The university ‘recommends’ interviews across all programs and disciplines, although you are less likely to be interviewed for certain Nursing programs than you would for other healthcare disciplines, like Medicine for example. Due to the fact that SUNY takes experienced nurses and allows them to continue their training, you should expect an interview that focuses on healthcare and current issues as much as it does on soft skills and your personality.
