Students at UVA have access to more than 250 different courses and seminars each year. There are set first year requirements, after which students can delve into a world of different options – including seminars and theory courses focused on legal scholarship, hands on courses including clinics and trial advocacy or public speaking, and intensive short courses from current practising trial lawyers. There are also chances to study abroad or take on a dual-degree, as well as externships that allow students to work whilst gaining academic credit for doing so. Lastly, there’s the opportunity to take on research projects, supervised by members of the faculty.

Admissions Statistics & Process

The admissions acceptance rate at UVA for Law is 19.9%. Per the university, the department is looking for students who ‘embody the values of community, integrity, resilience and achievement.’ This means that they look for both intellectual ability and personal accomplishments, personal experiences, and each applicant’s potential to succeed at Virginia. This means combining standardised test scores with the strength of an applicant’s undergraduate curriculum, trends in their grades, their professionalism, previous work and service, and contributions and leadership experience.
