Law Application & Interview Preparation Specialists
The UCL Law course – known as UCL Laws – is described as being home to ‘an intellectually diverse and dynamic community of legal scholars who believe that research should make a difference.’ This is further outlined as including how we think about law, how we practise it, and how justice itself is administered. This covers elements of social science, legal theory, legal doctrine, and must by nature be interdisciplinary. There is a great range of programmes available to students and they are taught with an open mind.

The admissions process at UCL is designed to ‘detect your future potential as a law student.’ This means looking at:
-Your existing achievements
– Your performance in the LNAT,
-Your personal statement
– Your academic reference
Overall the admissions rate for Law at UCL is 19%.
Interviews at UCL are typically only used for those who have applied to the LLB Law with a European Legal System degree programmes. The interview is primarily therefore designed to assess your competence in the language of the programme that you have applied to. However, in terms of core UCL interview criteria, you should be aware of the following.
Your motivation will be probed. This will cover how you apply yourself to various tasks and how you motivate yourself through periods of difficult work. This will also cover your motivation for the programme itself and how well you understand it and are prepared for it.
Your reasoning ability is seen as important – this might involve solving some problems using a critical lens, drawing conclusions from some information, or simply showing that you have the ability to present your ideas accurately and logically.
You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills – that means a willingness to listen to others as well as to express your own ideas.
Your knowledge of the law is not being assessed at this point, and the interview will not consist of this. However, you might face questions on your interests and hobbies, as well as your general accomplishments. Be prepared to frame these in the context of studying law.
UCL makes use of the LNAT. It states that this test is ‘a vital part of your application to UCL Laws.’ The process is as follows:
– The university assesses that you meet the minimum academic criteria
– They then use your LNAT performance and take the multiple choice test score from the test
– They will compare this to a benchmark score that is made by looking at applicants from the previous years and their respective scores
– If you make the benchmark score, you will be considered by admissions tutors
– In the most recent data the average LNAT of applicants was 21 and the average LNAT of offer holders was 28.
