The Latymer School 16+ Application Process & Interview Format

The Latymer School has a specific application process for Sixth Form entry. The school generally prefers continuity, with most Year 11 students progressing to Year 12. However, progression is based on academic performance, with students needing at least a numerical grade 7 in the subjects they wish to study at A Level, and an overall 6 numerical grade 7s in their GCSE examinations.

The school also encourages applications from new students, who must meet similar academic requirements. For Mathematics and the Sciences, there are additional entry requirements due to oversubscription. New candidates for these subjects must take an entrance examination, which is used to rank order applicants for available places.

The application process for new students includes three components:

  • An application form with personal details and subject choices.
  • A personal statement outlining academic interests and extracurricular involvement.
  • A test for applicants interested in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, focusing on rational thinking skills rather than specific knowledge.
