London SFP Key Information

The London Specialised Foundation Programme (SFP) for 2024 provides 106 specialised posts across five prestigious medical schools: Imperial College London, King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London, St George’s, University of London, and University College London. These institutions collaborate to offer a diverse range of specialised posts across various medical disciplines.

The program focuses on integrating academic research and leadership opportunities into the foundation training. Applicants undergo a rigorous selection process, including remote interviews, with a focus on academic achievements, clinical skills, and personal attributes. The academic rotation takes place in F2, contributing to your development as a future leader in medicine. The London SFP is renowned for its high standards and exceptional training opportunities, making it an ideal choice for aspiring doctors keen on an academic career.

The London SUoA Shortlist Process for the Specialised Foundation Programme involves a three-phase approach. In Phase 1, applicants’ publications are evaluated against set criteria. Those meeting the threshold progress to Phase 2, where additional degrees and prizes are verified. Each educational achievement domain is scored independently by two assessors, with the agreed score recorded. Applicants exceeding the threshold in Phase 2 advance to the interview stage, which is Phase 3. The process ensures a fair assessment of educational achievements, crucial for selection.

The SUoA does not use white space questions.

London SFP Interview Format

The London Specialised Foundation Programme’s interview process is conducted remotely via MS Teams, offering flexibility with four separate interview episodes. The interview ratio is 2:1, aiming to provide double the number of interview places compared to available programmes. Following the shortlist process, successful applicants are notified of their status and shortlist score, including feedback and appeal process information via email. Invitations for interviews are sent out in early November, with time slots released subsequently. This format ensures an efficient and accessible selection process for all candidates.

London SFP Competition Ratio and Notes on Competition

85% of programme offers were filled in the first allocation round, making this an extremely competitive SFP. The program itself therefore recommends that you apply to multiple programmes.
