The University of Lincoln, in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, offers a five-year Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) Medicine degree, with an aim to develop students into practising doctors. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are eligible to register provisionally with the General Medical Council (GMC) and can begin their work as doctors in the UK Foundation Programme. The degree is awarded by the University of Nottingham, while the course is based in Lincoln and taught by academic staff from both universities.
Applicants are chosen for an interview based on their scores from the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) and their academic performance. There’s no fixed UCAT threshold score for interview selection, but candidates who achieve Band 4 on the Situational Judgement Test of the UCAT are not accepted.
However, applicants who have completed certain programs like the Nottingham Pathways Programme, Nottingham Potential Summer School, Nottingham Sutton Trust Summer School, or the Lincoln Medical School Summer School may fast track to the interview stage, bypassing the UCAT/GCSE scoring phase. This is contingent on the achievement of Band 1 to 3 on the Situational Judgement Test of the UCAT. This fast track is only available for those applying for their first degree.
The Lincoln Medical School uses Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) as a part of their selection process. These interviews are likely to be conducted online using Microsoft Teams for the 2024 entry.
