The KCS curriculum is built on ‘increasingly close and analytical study of a progressively more specialised range of subjects, without sacrificing breadth of interest and commitment.’ Pupils are expected to ask questions, develop their ideas, and build their interests beyond the syllabus. Games sessions are twice a week for junior boys and once per week for boys in fifth form and sixth form.
At GCSE, seven core subjects are studied: English, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and French. Three additional subjects are chosen from a number of options: Latin, Greek, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Geography, History, Art, Music, Design and Engineering, Drama, Theology and Philosophy, Computer Science and Physical Education.
In order to enter the sixth form, middle school boys must achieve a minimum of 22 points in full course linear (I)GCSEs. Points are calculated as follows: five points for a 9, four points for an 8, three for a 7, and one for a 6.
At A Level, pupils will choose to follow either the A level or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). A Level choices are: Art and Design, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Greek, Design & Engineering, Drama & Theatre, Economics, English, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Mathematics, Further Maths, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology, and Spanish.

Entry is via a mix of tests and interviews. All boys are assessed in year 6 and offers for both the 11+ and 13+ entry points are made. The 11+ entrance examinations take place in December, and there are three examinations: English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. In January, parents and students are told whether or not students have been invited back for interview. Interviews are conducted by ‘kind and experienced’ staff and it appears the school makes a significant effort to ensure that they are not a stressful or overwhelming experience for children.
