Advice & Insight From Medicine Application Specialists
The IB requirements for Medicine are generally similar, requiring at least 36 points. However, there are some discrepancies, with certain universities requiring more or less. Note that different universities will also require marks in certain subjects.
As an overview, the following medical schools require less than 36 points: UEA, Keele, Kings.
The following medical schools require 36 points or more:  Aberdeen, Birmingham, BSMS, Exeter, Hull-York, Glasgow, Lancaster, Leicester, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Plymouth, Southampton, QUB, St George’s.
The following medical schools require 37 points or more: Bristol, Dundee, Edinburgh, Manchester, Sheffield.
The following medical schools require 38 points or more: Barts & The London, Durham, Imperial, Newcastle, St. Andrew’s, UCL, Cardiff
The following medical schools require 39 points or more: Oxford

The University of Aberdeen
Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths plus one other at grade 6 Higher Level, three subjects at grade 6 Standard Level. 36 points.
Anglia Ruskin
Higher Level grade 6 in Maths or English, Biology or Chemistry and more Science. 36 points.
Aston University
6,5,5 in three Higher Level subjects including Chemistry and Biology. 35 points.
 Barts QMUL
6 in Biology or Chemistry and one further Science. Biology and Chemistry must be taken at a Standard Level if not taken at Higher. 38 points.
University of Birmingham
6 in Chemistry, Biology and one further Higher Level subject. 32 points.

6 at Higher Level in Chemistry and one Biology, Physics or Maths. 18 overall at higher level and 36 points minimum.

6,6,6 at Higher Level in Chemistry, with one further Science. Average of Grade 6 at least at Standard Level. 36 points.

Imperial College London
6 in both Biology and Chemistry at Higher Level. 5 in English at Standard grade. Normal offer would require 39 points with a 7 in Biology and 6 in Chemistry. 38 points is the minimum requirement.
Keele
6,6,6 including Chemistry and Biology with an additional science. Must have 6,6,5 at Standard Level with English at Grade 6. 35 points.
Kent and Medway
6,6,6 at Higher Level with Biology or Chemistry and one further Science. 34 points.
King’s College London
Three Higher Level subjects at 7,6,6 including Chemistry and Biology. 37 points.
Lancaster University
At least 16 points from three Higher Level subjects to include Chemistry and Biology. 36 points.
University of Leeds
At least 6 in three Higher Level subjects to include Chemistry or Biology. Two sciences must be offered at either Higher or Standard Level if not offered at GCSE. English Language must be offered at a 5 at least (Standard Level) if not offered at GCSE. 36 points.
University of Leicester
At least 6 in three Higher Level subjects including Chemistry or Biology, with one further Science including Chemistry or Biology, and three Standard Level subjects. 36 points.
The University of Liverpool
At least 6 in three Higher Level subjects including Chemistry and Biology. At least a 5 in three further subjects at Standard Level. 36 points.
The University of Manchester
7,6,6 at Higher Level. If Maths and English are not offered, they must be at B or above at GCSEs. Must include Chemistry or Biology, plus two more subjects at Higher Level to include a further Science. 37 points.
Newcastle University
No subject graded at less than a 5. No further requirements, bar a minimum of 38 points.
UEA
6,6,6 at Higher Level including Biology. 36 points.
University of Nottingham
3 subjects at Grade 6 at least at Higher Level including both Chemistry and Biology. English Language must be offered at Higher Level Grade 5 or Standard Level Grade 6. 36 points.
University of Oxford
7,6,6 at Higher Level in Chemistry with a second Science or Maths. 39 points minimum.
University of Plymouth
6 in Biology and one other Science at Higher Level. 36 points.
Queen’s University Belfast
6 in three subjects at Higher Level including Chemistry and Biology. 36 points.

18 points at Higher Level with a minimum of 6 in Biology and Chemistry. Minimum of 5 in Maths and English at Standard Level. 36 points.
University of Sunderland
6,6,6 at Higher Level with Chemistry or Biology and a second Science subject. 6,6,5 at Standard Level. 35 points.
UCL
19 points at Higher Level to include Biology and Chemistry each with a minimum score of 6. No scores below 5 points. 39 points minimum.

Must offer Chemistry and a further science at Higher Level, with one further. 3 at Standard Level with at least 5 points minimum per subject. 36 points.
