Pupillage Application Specialists
Henderson Chambers, established in the 1950s, has cultivated a reputation for excellence, particularly in product liability/group action cases, where it has been recognized as the leading set. Since the development of group actions in the 1980s, the Chambers has been involved in most major cases, solidifying its position as the natural choice for international group action work, representing both UK and foreign multinationals. Furthermore, the Chambers has a strong presence in heavy commercial practices, including international arbitration, IT contracts, banking, and finance.
Besides commercial and product liability expertise, Henderson Chambers is also the preferred set for Health & Safety work, having taken prominent roles in criminal trials, civil briefs, and public inquiries in this field. Renowned for its work with Government, Central and Local, and Regulatory clients, eight members regularly work for the Treasury Solicitor, engaging in high-profile cases involving national security and counter-terrorism.
The Pupillage at Henderson Chambers is a demanding twelve-month training, offering broad exposure across practice areas. After six months of observation, pupils begin court appearances, providing hands-on experience. The program has a steep learning curve but leads to a rewarding career at the Bar.

Tips, Techniques & Insight from Interviewers & Current Barristers.
Henderson Chambers follows a structured interview process for applicants, consisting of two primary rounds, with potential additional interactions for top candidates. The first round involves an interview with three members of Chambers, focusing on a set question and competency-based queries. The second round raises the stakes, with the full pupillage committee conducting an in-depth investigation of both the set question and the application. Known for its challenging nature, the second round includes forensic questioning by leading cross-examiners.
Applications are accepted exclusively through the Pupillage Gateway, with the deadline in February, and offers are extended in May, in line with the Pupillage Gateway timeframe. Usually offering two pupillages, an exceptional year may see more offers. The process ensures that selected candidates are well-aligned with Henderson Chambers’ demanding training and high standards of practice.
