Habs Aske was founded in 1690, and is now situated in Elstree. Pupils from 4-18 are educated here, and there’s a twin girls’ school as well. There’s huge scope for pupils to explore individual interests alongside their studies, with numerous sporting and musical activities on offer, often in collaboration with the girls’ school. Per the school, it is able to offer ‘the best of single-sex education in a unique co-educational environment.’ Additionally, as of 2022 all Sixth Formers are taught at least one subject in a mixed-gender class. The school prides itself on access from a broad range of areas, with ‘the largest coach network of any school in the UK’ made up of more than 150 stops, allowing pupils from 30 miles in all directions to study here. Parents’ views are ‘sought and valued’ and the school singles out ‘passion for learning, intellect, endeavour, diligence and the pursuit of excellence’ as the qualities it seeks to inspire. Fees are £22,659 per year.

During Year 7, the boys are taught the following subjects: Mathematics, English, History, Geography, Theology & Philosophy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, German, Latin, Spanish, Art, Design and Technology, Computing & ICT, Music, PE
In Year 9, the timetable is organised to allow sets, ensuring that boys can work at the best pace for them. Boys study ten subjects at GCSE, and they are able to make their own choices here. The core subject requirements are English (ready for GCSE English Language and English Literature), Mathematics and seven other subjects.
All students must select at least one language, two sciences and one humanities subject, as well as one creative/technical subject, together with any two others.
Pupils study three A Levels in the Sixth Form. Habs Aske offers pupils the choice of 26 subjects, which they can combine as they like. As well as academic subjects, all pupils will take part in the Enhancement and Enrichment curriculum, as well as Games, Sport, and either the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) or the School and Community Service (SCS).

Candidates will sit an entrance examination made up of a 90-minute reasoning examination, which includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning, English and Maths questions. This takes place on the school premises. After the entrance examination, pupils that perform well will be invited for interview. Offers of places will then be made to a number of students from this group. Candidates are interviewed focusing on Maths, English, and a group task.
