Key Features
This CASPer exam is designed to assess applicants to a huge array of different healthcare courses, who will have very different educational backgrounds and different professional goals. You should therefore not expect there to be any specific knowledge required, nor will there be specific ethical guidelines that you ought to follow or revise beforehand.
Raters are drawn from across the entire country of Canada. They will have a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. The aim with the selection of these raters was to represent the patient background of the entire country. Therefore they are likely not to be healthcare professionals themselves, but will have undergone a great deal of training from the CASPer team in order to make sure that they are able to mark the tests correctly. You should therefore not use technical terms or terminology learnt in the healthcare field, nor should you expect any already-gained healthcare experience to furnish any advantage, for those that have it.
You should expect this CASPer test to draw evenly from each of the ten core attributes and tendencies that CASPer assesses. These are: collaboration, communication, empathy, equity, ethics, motivation, problem solving, professionalism, resilience and self awareness. As this exam is built to assess students applying to such a range of courses, you should not expect there to be any bias toward a particular area of the core attributes – you should work on all areas.
